The Second Will of Dr. Peter Beron and the Educational Reform of Midhat Pasha

Abstract. The article analyze in detail the previously unknown link between the transformations in Dr. Petar Beron‘s views regarding the new Bulgarian education in his second Will, on the one hand, and the educational reform of Midhat Pasha in the Danube vilayet on the other. The socio-political context that leads to the appearance of the Will is traced in light of trend on revival of traditional crafts in the Ottoman Empire. The study elaborated in detail a conception about the opposition of Dr. Beron against the state project.
