Absract. An attempt has been made to present, summarize and interpret some monuments of fine art from the 2nd – 6th c. A. D. in Bulgaria, which have preserved mosaic images of birds. The modern distribution of some of the depicted birds points to contacts in antiquity with the lands in the Horn of Africa and Hindustan.
